DEFINITION(S) & ABBREVIATION(S)

  • 6.1 Definitions

    • 6.1.1 DG Set: Diesel Generator Set produces electrical power by consuming diesel. It works as alternate power back-up of the plant.
  • 6.2 Abbreviations

    • 6.2.1 B/C: Bus Coupler

    • 6.2.2 ACB: Air Circuit Breaker

    • 6.2.3 SOPs: Standard Operating Procedures

    • 6.2.4 M/C: Machine

    • 6.2.5 Amp: Ampere

PROCEDURE

  • 7.1 Pre-Start Checking:

    • 7.1.1 Clean the outer surfaces of the DG Set using cotton cloth.

    • 7.1.2 Check the fuel (diesel) level using stick having a minimum marking level. It should be above the minimum level.

    • 7.1.3 Check the coolant water level. It should be visible from the top of the radiator.

    • 7.1.4 In the DG electrical panel, select the key to 'Run' mode. Check the battery voltage in the DG electrical panel. The value should show minimum 22 volt DC.

  • 7.2 Start-up Procedure:

    • 7.2.1 In the DG electrical panel, select the key to 'Run' mode.

    • 7.2.2 In the Power Control Centre area, go to the DG Breaker panel. Select the switch to Auto mode.

    • 7.2.3 In the Power Control Centre area, go to the B/C Breaker panel. Select the switch to DG-2.

    • 7.2.4 In the Power Control Centre area, go to the DG Breaker panel. Pull the lever of the breaker on by moving it from right to left side.

    • 7.2.5 Similarly, switch on the B/C Breaker.

  • 7.3 Checks While Running:

    • 7.3.1 Check the voltage in the display located in the DG electrical panel. LL (Line to Line) voltage should not be less than 220 volts.

    • 7.3.2 Keep checking the fuel level every half an hour. The level should not be below the minimum level.

    • 7.3.3 Every half an hour, keep checking the temperature in the temperature display located at the DG electrical panel. It should not be more than 80 °C.

    • 7.3.4 Every half an hour, keep checking the oil pressure in the display located at the DG electrical panel. It should not be less than

  • 2.5 kg/cm².

    • 7.3.5 Every half an hour, keep checking the load (Amp) in the display located at the DG electrical panel. It should not be more than as per machine
  • 7.4 Closing of DG Set:

    • 7.4.1 In the Power Control Centre area, first switch off the breaker of B/C by pressing the 'Trip' push button.

    • 7.4.2 In the Power Control Centre area, switch off the breaker of DG-2 by pressing the 'Trip' push button.

    • 7.4.3 Wait for ten minutes for the DG Set to cool off.

    • 7.4.4 In the Power Control Centre area, go to the DG Breaker panel. Select the switch to Manual mode.
